Neurotherapy Testimonials

E-mail

“When our son arrived at Bella Vida centre last year he was incredibly anxious, lacking in self-esteem and had low confidence.   He was vomiting a couple of times during the day, hating school and had few friends.  In addition he had issues with sensory defensiveness, including intolerance to light, sound, taste, texture and an incredibly heightened sense of smell (can be very useful).  His teachers were complaining of his inability to concentrate, so this was a process that was going to take some time...  We decided to change grades and support him in a therapeutic process whereby he was able to articulate his feelings and receive neurotherapy for his anxiety, sensory issues and concentration difficulties. This was a process that did require dedication and we are thrilled and elated with the results that I am recommending it to all parents that want their children to thrive, without the use of medication. Our child is a different person today, he is confident, surrounded by children who love him and is doing so much better at school. Just the other night, an aunt who hadn't seen him this year commented that in April 2010, he had a tic, couldn't communicate at the table and she was astounded that this was the same child. Thank you Justine and all staff at Bella Vida for all your work support and for being there when we didn't know which way to turn....it has been the most incredible process to watch."

"My eleven year old son entered therapy at the Bella Vida Centre because he started to battle with his work at school.  He became aggressive towards his fellow students and difficult to deal with at home.  Previously he had been a good student and a calm child.  He was also having small epileptic episodes just before he fell asleep at night.  Since he has been under the care of Justine Loewenthal he has not had a single episode before bed.  He no longer suffers from enuresis and his concentration has improved considerably.  His school teacher describes him as an attentive student, good at most subjects, especially Mathematics and a popular child in his class.  As his mother, I find him more amenable to reason and easier to get along with.  He does his homework with little if any resistance and readily helps out at home with chores.  He no longer hyper-concentrates to the exclusion of all other stimuli (forgetting to go to the toilet).  All in all, the neurotherapy has improved the quality and the quantity of his concentration and has lowered his anxiety and aggression remarkably.  Under the good guidance and expertise of Justine Loewenthal, I feel that the neurotherapy has had an astonishing effect on my son." - Alexis

"My daughter has cerebral palsy and had massive seizures. After about 59 Neurotherapy sessions, convulsions dramatically reduced in frequency and severity. Gradually, medication has been significantly reduced. Her ability to self-regulate and sleep have improved allowing her to learn better. As Neurotherapy is a non-invasive approach inducing permanent brain changes, I see it as a better choice than medication. I encourage any child or adult to try it. "   - Adi DH

"My 4 year old son’s teacher prepared me for my son being asked to leave his preschool as he continually disrupted the other children. A friend told me about neurotherapy. After 15 sessions, my son could sit and do a puzzle! The first time ever! He was not asked to leave the school. He has been able to make and keep friends.”  - Caryn K

“Neurotherapy directly addressed the cause of my son’s learning difficulties rather than us medicating the symptoms. We had very positive results—he has gone up 20% on average at school." - Hantie H

"I am so grateful that my daughter no longer has to battle through spelling!" Ingrid W

"Neurotherapy should be introduced into pre-primary and primary schools in order for kids to benefit as early as possible. Children would grow up with less anxiety and not be victimised for behaviour which they cannot control. This would identify and treat problem areas before it has long term emotional effects on the child. Neurotherapy gives a child with special needs a much better chance at life."  - Mandy DA

“When Sam was in Grade 000, I was first made aware of a concentration problem that she had.  Although it was not serious at that point, it needed to be addressed as it would be a problem at primary school level.  To encourage Sam to focus on finishing a task without being distracted, we used egg timers for doing tasks e.g. getting dressed in the morning.  Her Grade 00 teacher pointed it out as well.  In Grade 0, Sam’s teacher was concerned at the beginning of the year but by the end of the year, to my relief, her concentration had improved.  The concentration issue came up again in Grade 1 at the beginning of the year and although it did improve by the end of the year, Sam’s teacher felt it still needed work.  In Grade 2, coupled with a stressful event in Sam’s life, the concentration issue needed to be addressed.  From being a confident child in nursery school, Sam did not want to separate from me when I dropped her off at school.  This separation anxiety lasted until the first term of Grade 3.  She was doing ok at school in terms of results but because she wasn’t finishing tasks, her teacher felt that her report did not reflect what she was truly capable of.  Sam did Occupational Therapy from August 2008 until the end of the first term in 2009.  In the second month of 2009, Sam’s Grade 3 teacher arranged a meeting with her Occupational Therapist and myself to discuss Sam’s progress.  They said that they have done most of what they can in terms of occupational therapy and though there had been a significant improvement in concentration and finishing tasks, we were not 100% there.  Sam had also been doing Play Therapy with Joanna Kleovoulou at the Bella Vida Centre and Joanna referred me to Carol Smit for Neurotherapy.  Sam started Neurotherapy in April 2009.  She initially went 3 times a week.  The feedback from her teacher was that she is concentrating better and finishing tasks in the allocated time.  As a result, her confidence returned, she had a spring in her step she hadn’t had for a long time and she was much happier at school. Her end of year report for Grade 3 also showed a significant improvement from her report at the beginning of the year.  Neurotherapy has been instrumental in helping Sam achieve what she is capable of as well as having a positive effect on her self-esteem.  Although Sam has never been clinically diagnosed with AD(H)D she demonstrated symptoms of the disorder and low arousal.  Through a committed Neurotherapy Process Sam has overcome these difficulties and continues to do well.”

"My husband and I were not on the same page! Sound familiar? The school had requested a full assessment  on our 9 year old son who was in grade 3 who was doing nicely but “not reaching his full potential “. I starting frantically talking to teachers , head mistresses, other moms, researching and educating myself on all learning difficulties in children, not knowing what I was really looking for while my husband languished happily in denial. After much fighting, arguing, delay tactics, begging, shouting, crying, negotiation, pleading, time wasting and second opinions, we ended up with Justine and Neurotherapy.

After completing the course of approx 5 months, twice weekly, together with a good diet and simple learning aids, our now 10 year old son completed grade 4 with a report card that any parent would be proud of! He was diagnosed (if you want to put him in a box) with ISP (integrated sensory processing) but now reads with more fluidity and all subjects improved by 10-20 %! Not to mention his self esteem on the academic front was now on par with his sporting, musical and social skills so we now have a confident, happy and well rounded little boy! As for the parents. . . one of the learning curves we have over- come!" - Lisa M
